Clinitouch team visits Africa to strengthen partnerships and explore new opportunities

Through our Partner Program, we are fortunate to work with organisations across the globe. We firmly believe that in-person collaboration strengthens our mission and helps us reach our shared goals.

In this spirit, Dr. Noel O’Kelly (Medical Director & Co-Founder) and Bruce Adams (Commercial Director) embarked on a whirlwind tour of East and South Africa to meet partners and explore new opportunities.

Kicking the trip off with Lighthouse Medical in Zambia

The journey began in Zambia, where Bruce and Noel met with our local partners, Lighthouse Medical. The day was filled with productive discussions, particularly with health insurers interested in integrating Clinitouch into their offerings.

Key challenges such as Zambia's rurality, healthcare costs, and limited access to smart devices, despite widespread mobile connections, were examples of topics of discussion. Together with our partners, we explored how Clinitouch could bridge these gaps, offering more efficient, accessible care, even in underserved regions.

Exploring the opportunity of remote patient monitoring in Tanzania

Next, we hosted a roundtable in Tanzania with our partner Through Mobile Africa. This event fostered meaningful conversations about how remote patient monitoring could ease the strain on Tanzania’s healthcare system by improving the management of non-communicable diseases. We covered topics such as stretched clinical capacity, data security, and the high cost of care.

The enthusiasm from local clinicians was evident. Many were eager to learn how Clinitouch could help them better serve their patients while freeing up vital clinical resources.

Managing non-communicable diseases in Uganda

In Uganda, we co-hosted another roundtable with our partner MobiKlinic. Access to high-quality healthcare was a key theme at this event, alongside affordability for mass adoption, data concerns and how to engage patients and clinicians to use the technology.

While rural healthcare access challenges are often raised, Bruce and Noel’s visit to Uganda also highlighted that even densely populated areas like Kampala face significant issues. Navigating the busy city can also cause missed appointments and hinder adherence to care routines.

These discussions were invaluable, offering new perspectives on how Clinitouch could bring transformative change to both rural and urban communities. Face-to-face interactions also helped solidify our shared commitment to improve healthcare in these regions.

Finishing up in South Africa

The final stop on our trip was Johannesburg, where we reconnected with our partner in South Africa. This partnership, one of the first under our Partner Program, is already showing impressive results, particularly in cost savings for health insurers. We’re excited to see how these early successes will continue to evolve, with more insights to come in the months ahead.

Overall, this trip to Africa was more than just a series of meetings, it reaffirmed our commitment to improving healthcare globally through innovation and strong partnerships. While it is clear that there is a gap in the systematic care that patients need, it is promising to see the drive in these countries to use health technology to transform care across a range of conditions.

We are excited about the role Clinitouch will play in transforming healthcare in Africa and beyond.
